Grove House is a three bedroom mixed home in the heart of Leicestershire that precedes and supports the move to semi-independent living. It operates using a psychosocial model of care and aims to maintain or re-establish the normal developmental processes.
The home is supported by care staff who help formulate individual psychosocial care plans that include life skills training, social skills training, vocational training and educational programmes. The work may also involve family therapy and family interventions in preparation for leaving care.
The home also enhances the importance of the greater community and the context in which the young persons will live. There will be an important emphasis on assertive community interventions.
The young people are supported in carefully guided pathways that minimise risk and failure in order that they gain the confidence and skills that move them to semi-independent living. The home keeps strong relations with local employers, educational establishments, leisure facilities and day services that promote the use of the community.
