Woodland Retreat is a beautiful home which offers a secluded location with attractive grounds and spaces in which the young people can play, develop and explore in a safe and secure environment. This is the starting emphasis for further therapeutic interventions and work achieved in consultation between education, therapy and care services.
They may also have been excluded from previous educational placements and require statements of special education needs which can be met by our education team. Support is further provided by specialist therapy services, both for the individuals and the staff team with regular consultation and training sessions to enhance the care provided.
Woodland aims to provide high levels of observation, intervention and stimuli to enable the healing process to begin, building on issues self esteem, self worth and self help skills further supported through a high staff ratios and experience.
In addressing their historical negative experiences the staff team work in collaboration with the young people’s therapist to provide action plans to explore and resolve past traumas and develop coping mechanisms for the young peoples frustrations and anxieties.
Emphasis is placed upon the need for the young people to develop their social interaction and independent skills and to gain an awareness of how their behaviours impact on their lives and that of the people that they live with.
